Low Carb Ramblings

Of all the tests we have tried, we find that eating lower carb seems to help us generally feel better. This doesn’t have to be as strict as you think. But eating less grains (note that doesn’t mean total elimination!), lower carb veggies and lower sugar fruits, seems to help prevent over eating.

I think part of it is that by contrast you are eating more protein.

You can do it on a vegetarian diet (I did for months!) — but it is easier if you add chicken and fish.

I feel better having less breads. Yes, there are some low carb ones out there – and yes, I do enjoy them now and then.

A book that seems to explain it is: The Craving Cure: Break the Hold Carbs and Sweets Have on Your Life

But play with the variety of foods you eat. Find out which ones make you feel better and which ones make you feel worse. Keep a diet journal. Enjoy better health!

I hope this helps you end your cravings too!

Apatite 1 Week Test Results

So all I am doing differently is wearing this apatite necklace. No will power; no trying to eat less. Just listening to my body a bit more.

The first day I wore the necklace – I gorged! I ate anything I wanted. My body let me know which foods it didn’t want by having food literally fall off the plate. It also let me know which foods it wanted by giving me “healthy” cravings.

I started craving chicken instead of sugar. And potato chips lost some of their attraction. I got fuller faster. I got uncomfortable eating when full.

It all seems rather weird. But much to my surprise it does work.

It is pricey – so it isn’t for everyone. But it worked for me in helping me change my eating habits. When keeping the necklace by my bedside I would wake up knowing why I craved certain foods. The potato chips were for salt; the chicken was for more protein.

Another Test To Try

In my quest to loose weight, I decided to try one of the more unconventional approaches to weight loss.

According to a friend, she lost weight by simply wearing a necklace and trying to follow what her body wanted to eat. This sounded too amazing, but I decided I wanted to try it as it seems too good to be true. I am going to do the same thing I did with the cookie diet – record weights and progress long the way :)

I’m trying an Apatite necklace – as recommended by Gemisphere. I figure even if it doesn’t work, I get a fantastic looking necklace. On the other hand, their stones are quite expensive – so it is a large risk price-wise.

They say that extremely high quality Apatite in necklace form can help you alter your behaviors with foods. Foods that aren’t good for you loose their appeal; food that is good for you looks much better to you.

So I’m trying it. If you decide you want to try it, here is their coupon:

Does Detox Help?

Well, while my husband was trying the Acai experiment, I have been doing detox diet protocols.

My current weight is:
121.4 36.0% fat 48.1% water

Basically, my weight is about the same (no weight gain since cookie diet!) — however, I’m starting to feel healthier. I’m eating healthier and getting more energy as the toxins are removed.

I used: Garden Of Life Perfect Cleanse Kit BUT I added extra Aloe Vera Leaf at night and in morning as needed to make sure I didn’t get bloated/constipated.

I don’t know whether this is better or worse than any other detox diet. It was easy. Eat like normal but add a bit of extra water. I could do that! I felt much better than with other detox programs (as long as I also had the aloe vera leaf – not juice; not gel). Your mileage will vary – feel free to consult a doctor as with any program :) . But on the whole it was an easy cheap test that gave me more energy.

Acai Test Results

Well, I admit, I was a big doubter and didn’t even try this acai test. However, my husband did. He ate *anything* he wanted. He’s been really busy and just couldn’t get himself to diet. So this includes weekend binges on pie and ice cream .. and many more, foods that perhaps one should choose to eat quite a bit more moderately.

He weighed in today:

189.2 24.4% Fat, 55.6% water

Considering how much he was eating – he was very happy with the results. He feels like he lost a little weight – weighing less than when he started cookie diet – but more then his weight in April. So perhaps it helped him to not gain as much as he otherwise would have. He does have more energy.

It hasn’t helped appetite. If you are “puffy” or low energy, this would help.

Acai Test

We are starting to try Acai to see if there is any effect.

Stay tuned to see if Acai helps weight loss.

It would be great if Acai works as it is very tasty :)

Cookie Diet Day 21, evening

Her, I exercised today for 20 minutes. For some some reason the cookies give me a cough and it is much worse after my couple of day hiatus, so I am giving up on the cookie diet.
Him, I haven’t been eating the cookie diet and I haven’t been exercising the last few days. I hope to get back on it soon. Between the stress of interviewing, the stress of our friends illness and his passing and being behind on my book, I just haven’t been willing to add calorie restriction.
